How the Custom Increment Counter Works
The Custom Increment Counter adds a chosen amount on every tap instead of 1, such as 3, 12 or 0.5. You type the increment once, and every later tap applies it.
- Set the increment: Enter any whole or decimal value, such as 6 for a 6-pack or 0.25 for a quarter unit.
- Tap to add: Each tap adds the custom value to the total.
- Change on the fly: Edit the increment between taps. Past taps keep their original value.
- Read total and taps: The display shows the running total and the number of taps made.
Custom Increment Counter Formula
The Custom Increment Counter total equals the sum of each tap's increment value. With one fixed increment, the total equals taps multiplied by the increment.
- Increment(i)
- Value of tap number i
- Taps
- Number of taps made
- Increment
- Fixed custom value
Example: A brewer counts cases of 24 cans. After 17 taps at an increment of 24, the total is 17 × 24 = 408 cans.
Custom Increment Counter Reference Table
The Custom Increment Counter conversion table shows the total reached after 10, 25 and 100 taps at common increments.
| Increment | Typical unit | After 10 taps | After 25 taps | After 100 taps |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.25 | Quarter hour (15 min) | 2.5 | 6.25 | 25 |
| 0.5 | Half unit | 5 | 12.5 | 50 |
| 6 | 6-pack | 60 | 150 | 600 |
| 12 | Dozen | 120 | 300 | 1,200 |
| 24 | Case | 240 | 600 | 2,400 |
| 144 | Gross (12 dozen) | 1,440 | 3,600 | 14,400 |
About the Custom Increment Counter
A Custom Increment Counter is a tally counter with a user-defined step value. The tool fits any counting unit, from single items to dozens, cases and decimal amounts.
Standard counters offer fixed steps such as 1, 5 or 10. A custom step removes mental math. Counting 18 boxes of 12 eggs takes 18 taps, and the counter shows 216 eggs.
Ways to Use the Custom Increment Counter
The Custom Increment Counter has 5 key uses, including case counting and time logging.
- Case counting: Warehouse staff count 24-unit cases and read the unit total.
- Time logging: Freelancers add 0.25 hours (15 minutes) per tap to log billable time.
- Egg and bakery counts: Bakers count trays of 12 or 24 items.
- Distance tallies: Runners add 0.4 km (0.25 mi) for each lap of a 400 m track.
- Money counts: Cashiers add 20 per tap when counting a stack of 20-unit notes.
