How the Exercise Repetition Counter Works

The Exercise Repetition Counter adds 1 for each repetition you complete and confirms every count with a sound, so you count reps without looking at the screen.

  1. Place the device nearby: Put the phone on the floor or a bench within reach.
  2. Tap after each rep: Tap the full-screen surface with a hand, foot or nose at the end of each rep.
  3. Listen for the beep: Each beep confirms one counted rep.
  4. Read the total: The total shows reps done and time under work.

Exercise Repetition Counter Formula

The Exercise Repetition Counter training volume equals reps multiplied by the load lifted. Rep pace equals reps divided by working time.

Volume = Reps × Load | Pace = Reps ÷ Minutes

Example: An athlete does 45 kettlebell swings with 16 kg (35 lb) in 3 minutes. Volume = 720 kg (1,587 lb). Pace = 15 reps per minute.

Exercise Repetition Counter Reference Table

The Exercise Repetition Counter conversion table estimates a 1-rep max (1RM) from reps completed, using the Epley formula: 1RM = Load × (1 + Reps ÷ 30).

About the Exercise Repetition Counter

An Exercise Repetition Counter is a workout tally that counts reps one tap at a time. The tool frees the mind from counting so attention stays on form.

Rep counts set training goals. Strength work often uses 1 to 6 reps per set, muscle growth work 6 to 12 and endurance work 15 or more. The Epley formula turns a rep count at a given load into an estimated 1-rep max.

Ways to Use the Exercise Repetition Counter

The Exercise Repetition Counter has 5 key uses, including bodyweight workouts and rehab exercises.

  • Bodyweight workouts: Count push-ups, sit-ups and burpees.
  • Rehab exercises: Patients count physio reps prescribed by a therapist.
  • Fitness tests: Count reps in 1-minute push-up or sit-up tests.
  • Jump rope: Count skips in 30-second or 60-second rounds.
  • Group classes: Instructors count reps out loud for the class.
