How the Sensor Display Counter Works

The Sensor Display Counter shows hardware tally totals on a connected display, such as a 7-segment LED, an OLED screen or a browser tab on a large monitor. The board counts touches and pushes the total to the display.

  1. Pick the display: Choose a 4-digit 7-segment module, an OLED screen or a browser screen.
  2. Connect the board: Wire the display to the board, or connect the board to the browser.
  3. Count on the sensor: Each sensor activation raises the total.
  4. Read the display: The display updates with each count, readable from across a room.

Sensor Display Counter Formula

The Sensor Display Counter maximum value equals 10 raised to the number of digits, minus 1. Readable distance grows with digit height.

Max value = 10^Digits − 1 | Readable distance ≈ Digit height × 400

Rule-of-thumb viewing factor for LED digits

Example: A 4-digit display shows up to 10⁴ − 1 = 9,999. Digits 14 mm (0.56 in) tall read from about 5.6 m (18 ft).

About the Sensor Display Counter

A Sensor Display Counter is a hardware counter that shows sensor totals on a dedicated display. The display lets a whole room see the count.

Seven-segment LED digits stay readable in bright light and at long distances. Digit height sets the viewing distance, so a 4-inch (101.6 mm) digit suits a sports hall, while a 0.56-inch digit suits a desk.

Ways to Use the Sensor Display Counter

The Sensor Display Counter has 5 main uses, including production boards and event counters.

  • Production boards: Factories show units made on the line.
  • Event counters: Venues display entries on a wall screen.
  • Gym challenges: Gyms show reps on a large LED display.
  • Classroom demos: Teachers show live counts to the class.
  • Charity totals: Fundraisers display a running count of donations.
