How the Warehouse Bin Counter Works

The Warehouse Bin Counter keeps a separate tally for each storage location, such as aisle, rack, shelf and bin, so counts stay tied to where the stock sits.

  1. Enter the bin code: Type or pick a location code, such as A-03-2-B.
  2. Count the bin: Tap once per unit, or use pack steps for cases.
  3. Confirm and move on: Save the count and move to the next bin.
  4. Review by location: See totals per bin, per rack and per aisle.

Warehouse Bin Counter Formula

The Warehouse Bin Counter bin fill rate equals units counted divided by bin capacity, multiplied by 100. The aisle total equals the sum of its bin counts.

Fill rate (%) = Units ÷ Bin capacity × 100 | Aisle total = Σ Bin counts

Example: Bin A-03-2-B holds up to 80 units and contains 52. Fill rate = 52 ÷ 80 × 100 = 65%.

About the Warehouse Bin Counter

A Warehouse Bin Counter is a location-based stock counter that tallies units per storage bin. Location data turns a stock count into a stock map.

Warehouses lose time on misplaced stock. A count by bin shows both how much stock exists and where it sits, which speeds up picking and finds items stored in the wrong place.

Ways to Use the Warehouse Bin Counter

There are 5 main uses of the Warehouse Bin Counter, including location audits and slotting reviews.

  • Location audits: Teams check that each bin holds the right product.
  • Slotting reviews: Managers move fast-moving stock to easy-reach bins.
  • Bin fill checks: Staff find nearly empty bins to consolidate.
  • Cycle counts by aisle: Counters work through 1 aisle per day.
  • Spare parts stores: Maintenance teams count parts by shelf location.
