How the Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test Works

The Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test times how long you take to make a set number of taps, such as 50 or 100. The timer starts on tap 1 and stops on the final tap, so the result is a time, not a count.

  1. Choose the tap target: Pick 10, 25, 50, 100 or a custom number of taps.
  2. Tap to start the clock: The first tap starts the timer.
  3. Reach the target: Tap until the counter hits the target. The timer stops on the last tap.
  4. Read your time: The tool shows the finish time in seconds and the average taps per second.

Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test Formula

The Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test result equals the time between the first and last tap. Average speed equals the number of intervals divided by that time.

Time = t_last − t_first | Speed = (N − 1) ÷ Time
t_first, t_last
Timestamps of the first and last taps
N
Target tap count
N − 1
Number of gaps between taps

Example: A 100-tap test finishes in 14.85 s. Speed = 99 ÷ 14.85 = 6.67 taps per second.

About the Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test

A Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test is a race against the clock to complete a set number of taps. The test reverses the timed test: the count is fixed and the time varies.

Fixed-count tests suit speedrun-style competition, where the lowest time wins. The measured time starts at the first tap, so the gap count is always N − 1.

Ways to Use the Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test

There are 5 main uses of the Fixed-Count Touch Speed Test, including speedrun challenges and fatigue checks.

  • Speedrun challenges: Players race to finish 100 taps in the lowest time.
  • Fatigue checks: Compare 100-tap times at the start and end of a training block.
  • Hand comparison: Time the same test with the left and right hand.
  • Device comparison: Time 50 taps on a phone, a tablet and a trackpad.
  • Team games: Run a leaderboard for the fastest 25-tap finish.
